Los Angeles based automotive dealer, Honda World Downey 1-562-929-7000 , www.LAHondaWorld.com , Info@lahondalworld.com  has joined forces with the City of Downey to improve the lives of their youth by donating a Freshpark Park On A Cart action sports program.  Downey's afterschool program, ASPIRE, was developed to provide healthy, athletic and artistic activities for youth and teens.  The kit is used several days per week from the time school gets out until 6pm as well as at major city events. 

The Honda World Downey "Park On A Cart" was custom branded with the dealerships logo by Freshpark in honor of their support of the City they are helping and to let the families know who supports them and their community.  Honda World Downey has been contributing to the City for over 20 years and vows to continue to support the community for many years to come.

Information about the Aspire Program per the City of Downey Website.

The City of Downey and the Downey Unified School District collaborate to administer a State grant to provide the After School Program Information Recreation Education (ASPIRE) at Alameda, Carpenter, Gauldin, Griffiths, Lewis, Old River, Sussman, Price, Unsworth, Ward, West and Williams Schools.  The goal of the program is to provide a fun, positive, and safe learning environment.  The program operates school days only from school dismissal until 6 pm.

Daily Activities
ASPIRE students are provided with a daily snack from the Downey Unified School District Food Services.  Homework assistance is provided during the first hour of the program for one-hour per day.  The program focuses the enrichment components on enhancing educational skills and encouraging healthy life choices. The enrichment program is geared to be fun and educational for both the elementary and middle school sites.

DOWNEY – The local Honda car dealership went halfsies with the city on a new portable skate park.

The system has ramps and obstacles for skateboarders and bicycle riders. The equipment can be quickly packed up and transported by one or two people.

The equipment will be used at after-school programs and at city events.
